Sweet potato steam bread (さつまいもの蒸しパン)


The time of the year when winter slowly blends into spring is a great time for sweet potato recipes!  Why not make one tonight to greet winter goodbye? Once again, another simple recipe which guarantees that you will finish making it before Spring finally arrives!

Ingredients (6-8 baking cups)

  • 200g flour
  • 20g starch
  • 200ml milk
  • 2 small spoons baking powder
  • 100g sugar
  • 150g sweet potato

Cooking

1. Grease baking cup with cooking oil.

2. Peel sweet potatoes and cut into 1cm cubic size.

3. Whisk flour, starch, baking powder and milk in a bowl

4. Pour the mixture into the baking cups and fill halfway.

5. Put sweet potatoes on the cups (we used around ten per cup).

6. Steam for 10 mins. To check if it is ready, pierce it with a thin barbecue stick and check if liquid comes out. If it does not, then it is ready for serving!
